3D printer maker Stratasys Ltd. (NASDAQ: SSYS) is proud to announce that its Chairman and Chief Innovation Officer, Scott Crump, was awarded the Rapid Technologies and Additive Manufacturing (RTAM) Industry Achievement Award by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) on June 12. The award was given at SME’s RAPID 2013 annual industry conference. Francisco Medina, manager of the University of Texas at El Paso’s W.M. Keck Center for 3D Innovation, presented the award to Mr. Crump.
Established in 2008, the Industry Achievement Award annually recognizes one individual, team or company for outstanding accomplishments that have had significant impact within the additive manufacturing industry or in any industry through the application of additive manufacturing technologies. A panel of judges composed of manufacturing engineers, CEOs, industry consultants, original equipment manufacturers and other rapid manufacturing professionals evaluate nominees from the RTAM industry, including rapid manufacturing, tooling, medical, 3-D imaging and materials. The award winner is selected based on the scope and scale of their work benefitting the industry today as well as its promise to positively and significantly impact the future.
“I am extremely honored to receive this prestigious award,” said Crump. “On behalf of the entire Stratasys family, who all work so hard to put our company at the leading edge of innovation and technology, I’d like to thank the Society of Manufacturing Engineers for this recognition.”
The next opportunity to hear Mr. Crump speak will be July 10 at the Inside 3D Printing Conference & Expo in Chicago, where he will deliver the keynote address. The conference explores current and future business applications of additive manufacturing and features tutorials and seminar sessions covering topics such as policy issues, art and architecture.
Mr. Crump has served as the Chairman of the Board since Stratasys Inc’s inception in 1988. Since the company’s merger with Objet and formation of the new entity – “Stratasys Ltd.” – Crump continues as full-time Chairman as well as Chief Innovation Officer. Crump along with his wife Lisa H. Crump, invented Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) technology.
