This year, Intellias developed its first Portable Automotive Kit, which was designed to demonstrate the company’s capabilities from hardware, embedded and middleware software development up to cloud integration and UI design. A just-released digital cockpit can be used as a demo version at worldwide events, presentations, and client meetings. In particular, the company will present its demo kit at the СES23 in Las Vegas, USA, on 5-8 January. Visit Intellias booth #7505 in West Hall to meet Intellias experts and learn more about our demo.
“Intellias is an expert in mobility, and we managed to combine our expertise and the expertise of our partners to showcase advanced technological solutions for the automotive future. With this portable automotive kit, we can exhibit our multiple-layer skills and capabilities in terms of creating cutting-edge digital cockpits for electric vehicles. The digital cockpit has a number of features and system notifications that display the status of a car. We give other automotive companies and drivers a chance to have a real-life experience of interacting with different vehicle systems,” says Adam Konopa, Technology Director at Intellias.
Beyond a graphic display of the company’s expertise in the field, the Portable Automotive Kit serves as a statement of dedication to providing best-in-class services. A fully functional prototype is powered by industry-grade hardware and has all the features of a modern in-vehicle HMI system. While working on it Intellias followed the main industry trends, basing the operating systems on C/C++, Linux, and Android. The cockpit also has a full-HD sensor display for IVI, an automotive-grade IC display, a Renesas R-CAR H3-based SoC, and CAN & GMSL interfaces.
Intellias has a long-standing history of developing navigation solutions for the automotive industry’s leaders. The middleware of the cockpit demonstrates the company’s capabilities in the field. The prototype has TomTom navigation and ADAS features, including rear and bird’s-eye view, road signs, lane assistance, and obstacle and pedestrian detection.
The digital cockpit has a number of icons and system notifications that display the status of a car. Among them, there are icons for speed, acceleration, battery level, and regenerative braking. The prototype has signals for different situations and car features, including fog beams, headlights, seatbelts, airbags, ESP, ABS, check engine, hazard warning lights, driving mode, body light, and turn lights. There is even an infotainment dashboard, which includes radio, weather forecasts, and an HVAC system (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) in the car.
Intellias Portable Automotive Kit has three built-in simulation scenarios, which demonstrate the way vehicle systems work in different situations. In the first scenario, the cockpit simulates regular driving and parking of the vehicle. The second scenario shows how the car works when it is charging and discharging. The third scenario includes an engine warning signal activation.
“This is our first attempt to showcase our forward-looking expertise and industry vision through implementing digital cockpits. In the future, we would like to update our product, transforming it into a real car simulation. In the next prototypes we are planning to add more features like Intellias ECU module which can simulate signals of the real ECU or features related to Connected Car technologies like edge and cloud computing or synthetic sensors and data exchange and analytics,” comments Sergii Shcherbakov, Delivery Director at Intellias.
The role of software development in the automotive industry is becoming more and more important. Intellias has 20 years of experience in developing solutions for the automotive sphere, including embedded and platform solutions, backend and cloud systems, connectivity and telematics, digital cockpits, autonomous driving, and ADAS. The company actively cooperates with partners, industry leading organizations and open source communities to formulate new standards for the automotive industry. Intellias joined AUTOSAR this March and COVESA this September contributing to the standardization of different industry aspects, including safety on the road. The given portable automotive kit is the first step on the way to demonstrating Intellias advanced capabilities in developing automotive software solutions.
