Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) President & CEO Tony Radoszewski issued the following statement after the announcement of the Recycling Enhancements to Collection and Yield through Consumer Learning and Education Act of 2019 (RECYCLE Act )
“Thank you Senators Rob Portman (R-OH) and Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) for introducing the Recycling Enhancements to Collection and Yield through Consumer Learning and Education Act of 2019 (RECYCLE Act) today. Sen. Portman’s and Sen. Stabenow’s leadership in the senate to tackle recycling and recovery efforts in the U.S. is crucial.
Recycling is essential to ensure plastics and other materials do not end up where they do not belong—grants for recycling education programs are critical in helping solve this issue.
Increasing consumers understanding about the importance of recycling is a key step needed to recover all materials. From the RECOVER Act to the RECYCLE Act, every angle and approach is needed to improve our recycling systems. We encourage Congress to support these bills to help improve recovery rates, expand our recycling infrastructure and incentivize innovations in waste management.”
