On the occasion of Milano Design Week, Pininfarina announces a wide-ranging presence that places its design language at the forefront through a series of events and appointments illustrating the evolution of design between heritage and future vision.
From April 20 to 26, Pininfarina will play a leading role in the exhibition “10 Years of Open-Air Motor Shows”, hosted at Via Tortona 35, showcasing two emblematic vehicles that embody the brand’s capacity to innovate: the Battista Nino Farina and the Honda HP‑X. The exhibition celebrates the format conceived by Andrea Levy, which since 2015 has brought open-air motor shows to Turin, Milan and Monza, transforming iconic public spaces into a grand stage for the automobile.
The Battista Nino Farina represents the pinnacle of the brand’s contemporary vision, combining extreme performance with refined styling in an exclusive edition inspired by the first Formula 1 World Champion. Finished in Rosso Nino livery with Glorioso Gold details and “01” decals, it delivers 1,900 hp and record‑breaking acceleration figures. Alongside this modern icon stands the Honda HP‑X, a revolutionary concept developed with Honda in 1984 and recently restored at Pininfarina’s workshops in Cambiano. A forerunner of the NSX, it stood out for its wedge-shaped design, advanced aerodynamic solutions and pioneering use of lightweight materials such as carbon fibre and Kevlar.
On April 21 at Terrazza Martini, as part of the Car Design Dialogues organised by Car Design News, Pininfarina will headline an exclusive panel entitled “Vision to Form: at the Heart of Pininfarina Design.” The discussion will feature CEO Paolo Dellachà, Head of Exterior Design Dimitri Vicedomini, and Chief Creative Designer Tigran Lalayan, and – also through insights from Pininfarina Shanghai’s design team – will offer an in-depth look at the company’s creative process, showing how ideas develop and evolve across different cultures and areas of expertise.
During the panel, the JAS Tensei project will be presented in world premiere, with the unveiling of a 1:5 scale model. “Tensei”, a Japanese term meaning “rebirth”, is JAS Motorsport’s first high‑performance road car, inspired by the first generation Honda NSX and reinterpreted through a new, contemporary vision of the Gran Turismo concept. Designed by Pininfarina, the car features a full carbon‑fibre body based on a 1990s Honda NSX platform and integrates motorsport‑derived technical solutions, an area in which JAS has been successfully active for over thirty years. The project achieves a perfect balance between faithfulness to the original DNA and technological and stylistic innovation.
The JAS Tensei will also be in the spotlight at the 15th Grand Prix de Monaco Historique, taking place from April 24 to 26, through an event dedicated to clients, VIPs and media. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet Pininfarina’s design team – including Vicedomini and Lalayan, as well as Senior Design Manager Raffaele Gerace – and explore the creative and stylistic journey behind a car already poised to become an icon.
In Milan, on the evening of April 21, the Battista Nino Farina will temporarily leave the Via Tortona exhibition to drive through the city streets and reach the Brera district, where it will take centre stage at a private event hosted at Reflex’s showroom, a long‑standing Pininfarina client in the product design sector. Over the years, the collaboration between Pininfarina and Reflex has resulted in numerous indoor and outdoor furniture collections, all expressions of the same design philosophy that defines the brand’s automotive creations: purity of lines, innovation and meticulous attention to detail. During Design Week, the Reflex showroom will display two new Pininfarina‑designed pieces – a sun bed and a bed from the Orizzonte Collection – open to visitors daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Through this multifaceted presence, Pininfarina reaffirms its central role on the international design stage, bringing to Milano Design Week a narrative that spans past, present and future, and once again highlighting the company’s unique ability to transform vision into form.
