Avery Dennison announced a new pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes portfolio for EV battery cell connection systems (CCS). The wide range of functional bonding and protection tapes are engineered to make EV batteries safer, more efficient and easier to design and assemble.
Cell connection systems are critical to safety and performance in electric vehicles. They help ensure the reliable performance and longevity of the battery by providing high-voltage connectivity and transmitting signals such as temperature and pressure sensing information.
Avery Dennison tapes for CCS provide:
- Flame-retardant properties
- Vibration absorption to help minimize sense linestress
- High-temperature resistance to bond materials securely to thermal and flame barriers
- Novel ways of construction that can eliminate the need for a topsheet
- Choice for manufacturers of single-coated tapes for dielectric protection and double-coated tapes for bonding thermal barriers
“As the EV landscape continues to evolve, we’re working to solve some of the most common challenges in EV battery design and construction,” said Max VanRaaphorst, market manager for Avery Dennison eMobility, Automotive & Energy Storage. “In this instance, the bonding functionality of the tape, along with its ability to provide dielectric protection, helps address the design and safety aspects for battery engineers.”
Avery Dennison offers OEMs and tier suppliers the ability to develop custom tape solutions to fit application needs. Services include new product development and engineering, technical and business development support, and Avery Dennison’s global market reach.
