driveIT – international Fair Congress for Automotive Software and Electronics in Stuttgart

With driveIT the most important driving forces for innovations in the automotive industry – software and electronics – have their own development, communication and purchasing platform. The new international fair congress is supported, among others, by Professor Dr-Ing. Jürgen Leohold, Manager of Group Research at Volkswagen AG, and by Dr-Ing. Rainer Kallenbach, Executive Vice President of Automotive Electronics at Robert Bosch GmbH. Established market leaders are already amongst the fair exhibitors. The international fair congress for automotive software and electronics will be organised for the first time at the fairgrounds in Stuttgart from 4th to 6th November 2008.

The concept in particular is suitable to discuss innovative ideas and approaches to central trends in technology of the branch simultaneously with existing and new partners as well as customers. “As it can be considered safe that several of our partner companies will be present at an event like the driveIT, the trade fair is a suitable platform – thus it is a must for ETAS to be represented at the driveIT”, says Dr Matthias Klauda, member of the management of ETAS GmbH. This view is shared by companies, such as Aquintos, dataTec, dSpace, Gigatronik, Haitec, IAV, Linius Technologies and Vector Informatik, and for this reason can already be found on the list of exhibitors at the driveIT. The exhibition portfolio comprises the fields of software, hardware, tools, content, engineering, process and quality management as well as management consultancy. “The clear focus on software and electronics for the motorcar industry exclusively and the participation of recognised market leaders makes the driveIT an efficient information and purchasing platform for company managers, developers, designers, technicians, buyers, responsible persons for production and quality of OEMs as well as suppliers”, says Wieland Kniffka, one of the managing directors of the organising company H & K Messe GmbH & Co. KG.

driveIT Congress – more dialogue through new concept
Not only the trade fair promises to be a high-calibre event, but also the driveIT Congress under the direction of Professor Dr-Ing. Hans-Christian Reuss, member of the Board of Directors for Motor-car Mechatronics Department at the Research Institute for Automobilism and Automobile Engines located in the German town of Stuttgart (FKFS). The same can also be assumed of the Specialist Advisory Board, which at present is in the process of identifying the most important focal points in industry and research in order to set them up for discussion. Among others, the Advisory Board consists of the following experts: Professor Dr-Ing. Jürgen Leohold, Manager of Group Research at Volkswagen AG, Dr-Ing. Rainer Kallenbach, Executive Vice President Automotive Electronics at Robert Bosch GmbH, Dr techn. Christian Beidl, Director of Powertrain Calibration, Processes and Methods at AVL List GmbH, Professor Dr-Ing. Dr hc. Rolf Isermann, Institute for Automation Technology at the Technical University of Darmstadt, and Professor Dr Dr-Ing. Konrad Reif, Study Manager for Vehicle Electronics and Mechatronic Systems at the Professional Academy of Ravensburg.

Current and future-oriented subjects, in particular, from the fields of environment, safety, E/E architectures will be presented and discussed during the driveIT Congress under the aspects of standards, quality as well as performance. The frequently informal and accidental exchange of ideas by experts during “conventional” events of this type will be institutionalised, professionally organised and summarised in round-table discussions at the driveIT Congress. “In order to offer visitors to the Congress the biggest possible benefit, the dialogue between experts and participants will be intensified during the driveIT Congress”, explains Professor Dr-Ing. Hans-Christian Reuss. The target of the driveIT within the framework of the congress as well as of the fair is to contribute to setting up new development networks and alliances and to intensifying existing ones.

Award for the best practice solutions – the driveIT Award
Within the framework of the fair congress, the driveIT Award will be given. This award is to go to exhibiting companies for exemplary innovations. The jury will consist of high-calibre experts for automotive software and electronics. Awards will be given for products and services in the categories “Function / Software”, “Sensors / Actronics”, “Networking” and “Tools”.
