BorgWarner Morse TEC Japan Honored with Mazda Quality Award

BorgWarner Morse TEC Japan has been honored by Mazda for achieving the OEM’s quality target of less than 10 ppm for three consecutive years. PPM is an industry acronym for “parts per million”. The Mazda award recognizes a supplier for quality performance of fewer than 10 defects per one million products manufactured.

“As the global auto industry grows more competitive, our customers have increasingly high expectations in terms of supplier quality, delivery, and performance,” said Alfred Weber, President and General Manager, BorgWarner Morse TEC. “This award is compelling evidence that BorgWarner is meeting or exceeding those expectations. We are very proud and honored to receive it.”

BorgWarner Morse TEC supplies the entire engine timing system for the Ford Mazda I4 2.0 L and 2.4 L engines. The system consists of a timing chain, crank sprocket, two cam sprockets, tensioner arm, hydraulic tensioner, timing guide, oil pump chain, oil pump guide and oil pump tensioner.

Weber noted that Morse TEC Japan was also one of only four suppliers to receive the 2005 Honda Quality Performance Award, which recognizes excellent supplier performance in terms of zero defects and on-time delivery.

“BorgWarner Morse TEC Japan has distinguished itself as an exceptional performer in the eyes of our customers,” he said. “I congratulate our employees for exemplifying the BorgWarner commitment to Product Leadership, and for continuing to strive for excellence in every aspect of our business.”

BorgWarner Morse TEC is a global leader in the design and manufacturing of automotive chain systems and components for engine timing, automatic transmission and four-wheel drive applications. The BorgWarner Morse TEC operations in Nabari City and Aoyama produce Hy-Vo transmission chains, engine timing components and systems including silent timing chains, sprockets, tensioners, and timing chain for motorcycle engines.
