The BRABUS wolf in sheep’s clothing: With the new BRABUS 800 supercar based on the Mercedes E 63 S 4MATIC+ of the 2021 model year, the Bottrop-based refinement specialist once again offers high performance in its purest form. And it does so in the discreet outfit of a Mercedes E-Class sedan, which is further enhanced visually and in terms of driving dynamics with custom naked-carbon aerodynamic-enhancement components and 21-inch hi-tech forged wheels. Alternatively, the BRABUS can also upgrade the wagon to this level.
At the heart of the new supercar is the 4.0-liter eight-cylinder twin-turbo engine, which the BRABUS powerplant engineers have boosted to a peak output of 588 kW / 800 hp (788 bhp) and 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque. This enables the four-door car to sling itself to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.0 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 300 km/h (186 mph).
A high-performance exhaust system with electronic sound management is just as much a part of the BRABUS product range (BRABUS-Allee, D-46240 Bottrop, phone +49 / (0) 2041 / 777-0, fax +49 / (0) 2041 / 777 111, Internet www.brabus.com) as is a lowering module.
Further individual customer requests can be fulfilled in every detail with an exclusive BRABUS fine leather interior.
The turbocharged four-liter, eight-cylinder engine of the current Mercedes E 63 S 4MATIC+ produces 450 kW / 612 hp (603 bhp) ex-factory. With the expertise gained in more than 40 years of engine tuning, the powerplant engineers from Bottrop developed a particularly powerful performance upgrade for the Mercedes E 63 S 4MATIC+. Unlike most other providers, it is not only TÜV-tested but of course also comes with the 3-year or 100,000-km/62,000-mile BRABUS Tuning Warranty (see BRABUS Warranty Terms and Conditions, updated July 2013).
To live up to the BRABUS 800 type designation, specially configured high-performance turbochargers were developed, which feature a larger compressor unit as well as a modified core assembly with reinforced axial bearings. They produce a maximum boost pressure of 1.6 bar.
In addition, the plug-and-play BRABUS PowerXtra module is connected to the electronic engine management system. This auxiliary control unit introduces special mapping for injection, ignition and boost pressure control. To supply the engine with sufficient breathing air, special carbon air intakes were developed and integrated into the radiator grille on the left and right. The two vertical red signature stripes are finished in exactly the same color as the characteristic BRABUS engine cover.
The BRABUS B40S-800 performance kit was developed and tested in elaborate test series using the state-of-the-art test bench technology and road tests. The result is not only outstanding power delivery, but also impeccable durability, which is the hallmark of every engine from the Bottrop Manufaktur.
After the conversion, the engine produces an additional 138.4 kW / 188 hp (186 bhp) and an extra 150 Nm (111 lb-ft) of torque. With a massive 588 kW / 800 hp (788 bhp) at 6,600 rpm and 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque at a low 3,600 rpm, the BRABUS 800 is one of the most powerful sedans and station wagons in the world.
The driving performance is correspondingly outstanding. The combination of BRABUS high-performance engine, nine-speed automatic transmission, which can be shifted either automatically or manually via the ergonomic BRABUS RACE aluminum paddle shifters on the steering wheel, and 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive accelerates the sedan from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.0 seconds, while the wagon needs a tenth of a second more. The top speed is electronically limited to 300 km/h (186 mph) on both body styles.
Drivers who wish to deactivate the standard automatic stop-start system permanently can order the BRABUS Start-Stop Memory system. It permanently disables the automatic shut-off function at the touch of a button. The system identifies the most recent status and stores this setting until it is manually re-enabled.
Of course, BRABUS can also give the owner of any E 63 S 4MATIC+ an acoustic treat. The stainless-steel BRABUS high-performance exhaust system with four stainless steel/carbon tailpipes optimizes power delivery by reducing exhaust backpressure. What is more: the integrated exhaust flaps can vary the exhaust note. The driver can thus select the discreet, emphatically quiet “Coming home” mode. In the open “Sport” position, the V8 produces an extra powerful sound.
The sporty appearance can be dynamically enhanced with sporty, elegantly styled BRABUS naked-carbon aerodynamic-enhancement components, which can be ordered with either high-gloss or matte coating. Together with the BRABUS air intakes on the left and right in the radiator grille, the front spoiler lip gives the supercar sedan or wagon an even more striking face. At high speeds, the aerodynamic-enhancement component reduces front-axle lift and thus optimizes handling stability.
The BRABUS rear spoiler on the trunk lid of the sedan was shaped to generate downforce on the rear axle for an optimal aerodynamic balance. There is also a carbon diffuser insert for the rear fascia of both body styles, which perfectly frames the four tailpipes of the BRABUS sports exhaust and completes the sporty design package.
The exclusive BRABUS look naturally also includes custom alloy wheels, which are offered for all E 63 S models in various dimensions up to 21 inches in diameter. The vehicle pictured here features BRABUS Monoblock “PLATINUM EDITION” Z forged wheels, which have not only been painted in vehicle color but have been pinstriped in the same contrasting color to match the red signature stripes in the radiator grille. The rims in a filigree ten-spoke design are manufactured using a hi-tech forging process and combine low weight with maximum strength. The front axle features size 9Jx21 wheels with 255/30 ZR 21 tires. The 10.5Jx21 rims at the rear are mounted with 295/25 ZR 21 tires. BRABUS technology partners Continental, Pirelli and YOKOHAMA supply the optimal high-performance tires for this combination.
This not only enhances the BRABUS 800’s looks, but also makes its handling even more agile with this wheel/tire combination. An effect that optionally further optimized with the BRABUS Sports Unit for the standard air suspension. It provides a ride-height lowering by ten or twenty millimeters (0.4 or 0.8 in) depending on the selection of the available Comfort, Sport or Sport+ modes.
Another BRABUS specialty is exclusive interior refinement, which is of course also available for the new Mercedes E 63 S 4MATIC+. Stainless-steel scuff plates with backlit BRABUS logo that changes color in line with the interior’s ambient lighting welcome the occupants. Sporty cockpit features such as BRABUS aluminum door pins and pedals are part of the product range as well.
BRABUS can fulfill further individual requests of the vehicle owner in the company-own upholstery shop, which creates extravagant BRABUS fine leather interiors from the finest leather and Alcantara. The variety of colors and upholstery designs is practically limitless. In addition, there are precious wood or genuine carbon inlays, which can also be tailor-made in a wide variety of colors and finishes.
The BRABUS 800 can be ordered as a sedan or wagon. Alternatively, BRABUS will convert any current Mercedes E 63 S 4MATIC+ to this specification at the customer’s request, either completely or in stages.
