Seattle-based automotive software and services provider OpenCar Inc. announced today that its OpenCar Connect framework now supports Nuance’s Dragon Drive Link technology that allows automakers to leverage the user’s smartphone for data connectivity, personalization and supplemental processing.
Â
OpenCar’s new partnership with Nuance will create cloud-based apps and services solutions for the connected car. Â By leveraging Nuance’s Dragon Drive Link technology, the OpenCar platform enables a seamless connection between a user’s smartphone and the HMI, including user authentication for in-car apps and over-the-air updates to ensure in-car systems always have the latest versions of popular apps and services.
Â
“Automakers and their partners urgently need a common software development toolkit to build differentiated experiences,” said Jeff Payne, OpenCar CEO. “The OpenCar tools and services empower automakers and Tier1 suppliers with a standards-based platform and a pre-built application portfolio that are easily combined to create unique, differentiated experiences. The addition of Nuance’s Dragon Drive forms a complete solution for automakers, providing each of the key pieces required to build a competitive, updateable infotainment system for the connected car.”
Â
“We are excited to partner with OpenCar to blend their infotainment framework with Nuance’s Dragon
Â
Drive technology to deliver a complete, cloud-connected infotainment solution to automakers,” said Arnd Weil, Senior Vice President Automotive Business & Marketing, Nuance. “This partnership makes it much easier and faster to build and deploy a proven, smartphone-based solution that pairs perfectly with each automaker’s unique, branded HMI.”
