Tieto, Link Motion and Nomovok have started collaboration on Link Motion automotive platform – next generation on-board unit with powerful hardware and open source powered secure software platform. The platform enables integration of a rich portfolio of features for the connected and smart cars of tomorrow.

The convergence of connectivity, software and automotive technologies are opening the market for a new breed of safer and intelligent vehicles and smart traffic solutions. Tieto’s scale and expertise in consumer electronics, infrastructure R&D and cloud ecosystem accelerate new market entries for Link Motion partners. Tieto and Nomovok are the Link Motion core software integrator partners offering software integration and support services helping Automotive OEMs to differentiate and shorten time to market with Link Motion platform.

“Through this collaboration Link Motion is able to benefit from Tieto’s long and deep cross-industry development experience. As a trusted integration partner, we are capable of supporting Link Motion in all project phases globally, from software integration to service and sales. This collaboration solidifies our vision to complement and scale up our joint business with leading technology companies like Nomovok, who have worked for years with automotive projects”, says Juuso Tammilehto, Vice President Growth Programs and Country Manager, China of Tieto.

Nomovok is a leading expert in building and integrating embedded Linux systems and connecting customers to the cloud. “We are excited to join Link Motion development with other experienced companies like Tieto to make the platform the most optimized one in the market for connected cars”, comments Olli Vänttinen, General Manager of Nomovok.

Link Motion is a strategic alliance of leading European and Asian software and hardware companies who have worked in the automotive industry for the last seven years.

“With 89% of new cars connected by 2019, there is a lot to do in this area during the next few years. The partnership with Tieto and Nomovok enables us to operate on a wider scale and deliver multiple large integration projects at the same time”, says Pasi Nieminen, CEO of Link Motion.

“There is a huge market in Asia, Europe and Americas, and this partnership allows us to bring the best value to our customers. Connectivity and automation in cars and traffic will increase even further in the future and Link Motion definitely wants to be part of that development.”

Link Motion is a new automotive platform, which changes the traditional vehicle computing infrastructure by implementing several previously discrete controllers with one computer, reducing costs significantly. Security has been built in from the ground up using a layered approach. The system relies on ARM® TrustZone® and virtualization to protect critical system functions from vulnerabilities. It supports central unit, instrument cluster and head-up displays, rear-view cameras, CANopen protocol and it offers connectivity through cellular, WiFi and Bluetooth connections as well as location services using GPS and BeiDou.
