Jungo Ltd, a leading provider of automotive connectivity middleware, has joined forces with the Finnish mobile solutions company Ixonos to provide a complete end-to-end MirrorLink(TM) solution for in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) implementers in the mobile and automotive industries.
MirrorLink, formerly known as Terminal Mode, is an industry standard from the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) for establishing compatibility between smartphones and vehicle infotainment systems and providing access to a wide variety of applications.
The pre-integrated MirrorLink solution from Jungo and Ixonos will reduce the development cycles and R&D costs of Tier-1 implementers of automotive IVI systems and provide interoperability for MirrorLink support. The joint solution is based on MediaCore, Jungo’s automotive connectivity middleware, and Ixonos’ IVI Connectivity Solution, which supports MirrorLink.
MediaCore(TM) is a comprehensive connectivity and media-management infrastructure that enables the manufacturers of in-car infotainment systems to integrate media access and control, media streaming and phone and Internet connectivity into their designs.
Ixonos IVI Connectivity Solution(TM) is a software product for in-vehicle smartphone and cloud integration. The solution supports connectivity with MirrorLink, iOS and Android-based devices and offers great performance and user experience, also in more demanding use cases such as enabling HD video playback and gaming for rear seat passengers.
“The Ixonos and Jungo joint solution is yet another means of incorporating smartphone applications into the latest infotainment systems,” said Jungo Connectivity General Manager Ophir Herbst. “This opens up new options for consumers to leverage their smartphone experience within the IVI framework.”
“Integrating Ixonos’ industry-leading IVI Connectivity Solution with Jungo’s advanced connectivity solutions supports our goal to enable high performance, quality and great user experience in cars”, says Timo Salminen, Director, Automotive & Home at Ixonos. “It is important for us to offer our Tier-1 customers the full package, based on leading USB and WiFi connectivity solutions, such as Jungo’s.”
