| The 2026 USAC Mustang Cup opener is the first of six events featuring full race weekends of practice, qualifying and two 45-minute sprint races. Each event’s closing sprint is the Parnelli Cup while the weekend opener is the Miles Cup race, each respectively named after Ford Racing legends Parnelli Jones and Ken Miles. Jones won the 1970 Trans-Am Championship for Ford in the iconic yellow No. 15 Bud Moore Engineering Mustang Boss 302.
Next weekend’s Sebring sprints are scheduled to start at 1:25 p.m. EST on Saturday and at 1:55 p.m. EST on Sunday, with both available for viewing through livestream coverage on the Ford Racing YouTube Channel. Elliott competes in both the Miles and Parnelli rounds while Mike Levitas contests Saturday’s Miles Cup race before handing the No. 36 off to his son Harris for Sunday’s Parnelli Cup weekend finale.
Harris Levitas, TPC Racing Director of Race Operations: "TPC Racing is thrilled to now be part of the Ford Racing family and running the Ford Dark Horse R in the USAC Mustang Cup Series. It is a great program, and it is great to be working once again with Chris Ward, who is now with Ford Racing. We have worked with Chris in the past and have always been able to put things together very well. He worked hard to get us into the Ford program, and we want to thank him. The Mustang Dark Horse is really a great car, and their approach to racing in the USAC Mustang Cup and IMSA Mustang Challenge series is a very affordable way to get into racing. This is really a nice fit as we’ve done a lot of work on the Ford platforms for their high-performance road cars through DSC Sport. DSC is our dynamic suspension control entity and a leader in the active suspension technology sector. It is just great for TPC racing to be involved with Ford like this because we offer a lot on the road-car side of things through DSC. We’ve done a lot on the previous chassis, and now as we start on the Dark Horse edition, we realize really how great a platform it is. We are running a TPC Racing and DSC Sport entry with a Mustang carrying TPC’s familiar No. 36. My father and TPC and DSC Sport founder and principal, Michael Levitas, is also an accomplished driver and will be at the wheel of the No. 36 TPC Racing DSC Sport Mustang Dark Horse R. I am also fortunate to announce I will be racing for the first time in several years this weekend when I take to the wheel of the No. 36 for Sunday’s race. We also have some great clients that we are bringing onboard this season who are getting into first-time racing programs. We welcome Cliff Elliott who will be running with us in the No. 65 TPC Racing Mustang Dark Horse R at the Sebring opener, and a third car and driver combination to be announced at a later date. You can approach so many more people with this platform of car as it’s really one of the best bangs for the buck in sports car racing." |
