CHEP Automotive and Industrial Solutions, the global leader in container pooling solutions in the automotive supply chain, is pleased to announce the appointment of David Mayo to the position of Vice President, Automotive, Europe.
Effective from 1 February, Mr. Mayo reports directly to Laurent Le Mercier, Senior Vice President, Global Automotive. Mr. Mayo’s predecessor, Luca Rossi, will be moving to CHEP’s Pallets business to join the European Key Account team.
In his new role, Mr. Mayo will further build on the recent work of the Automotive Executive Team to enhance growth and existing customer collaboration through his leadership and management of the European business. Of particular importance remains driving customer satisfaction, whilst improving cost efficiencies in the supply chain both within and for the customer base, through the provision of effective container solutions.
Mr. Mayo’s team will also be responsible for actively growing the business and the brand in Europe as a leading packaging partner to the automotive industry. “David’s blend of leadership experience in the military, key account and supply chain experience as well as his passion for the automotive sector positions him perfectly to rise to such a challenge,” says Mr. Le Mercier.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Mayo held numerous positions within CHEP Europe including Manager of Operations and Quality, Key Accounts, Market Development and Supply Chain in both the Automotive and Pallet businesses. In his most recent role as Senior Director, Supply Chain, Mr. Mayo was instrumental in merging Operations and Logistics into a single and more efficient organization strategically aligned with the rest of the business across 9 countries.
Prior to joining CHEP in 2000, on completion of his Officer Training at the renowned Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Mr. Mayo went on to have a successful 18-year career in the British Army, enjoying both operational and logistics command experience, in a variety of roles and theatres.
Mr. Mayo is married and has one child. He lives with his family in Düsseldorf, Germany.
