Five specialist shows now drive the annual Tokyo Automotive World, which has grown into Asia’s largest exhibition of advanced automotive technologies and meeting place for engineers from around the world.
Supported by SAE International, new elements have been added to Automotive World since 2009. It now consists of Car-Ele Japan, EV Japan, Automotive Weight Reduction Expo, Connected Car Japan and Automotive Components Processing Technology Expo.
Held in January, the 2015 edition attracted a record number of people from around the world. travelled to Automotive World 2015 in Japan.
“We have been trying for seven years to realise ‘the exhibition where the automotive engineers can compare the latest technologies around the world at once,’” says organizer Soda Tadashi Nozomi. “Automotive World 2015 established the show as one of the world’s major exhibitions. We will continue improving the exhibition by covering the most important topics of automotive industry,” he says.
With 200 more exhibitors than in 2014, the show space was expanded to the second floor for the first time. It attracted 636 exhibitors in total – a record number. “All the show spaces were full of people looking for the latest technology. Everyone at every booth indulged in serious business talks. Many exhibitors and visitors commented positively about the quality of the show. Automotive World has established its position as the mustattend show for manufacturers to keep up with the cutting-edge technologies and industry trends,” he says.
Comments from exhibitors include “there is no other exhibition as Automotive World in the world, where so many key persons from OEM & Tier 1 companies get together for business”.
Companies exhibiting at Automotive World 2015 included Bosch, Dana Holdings, Linear Technology, Renesas Electronics, Xilinx, Rubycon, Kostal, Mentor Graphics Japan, Toyobo, ARRK, Murata Manufacturing and Nichicon. “One of the greatest strengths of Automotive World is that it gathers unrivalled number of engineers and decision makers from OEM and Tier 1 companies. You can see that in the member of Advisory Committee and also in the list of Opening Ribboncutting Dignitaries,” says Nozomi. In addition to the Japanese major automobile manufacturers, Automotive World 2015 attracted many key people from leading companies around the world such as Volkswagen, Ford Motor, Hyundai Motor, Shanghai General Motors, and Renault-Samsung Motors.
The co-held Technical Conference played a huge role to reinforce the show’s strength as the hub of the latest trends and technologies. With speakers from global giants such as Honda, Volkswagen and Ford, the Technical Conference attracted 4,659 attendees. Automotive World 2016 will be hosted at the Tokyo Big Sight from January 13 – 15.
