ALTe Powertrain Technologies (ALTe), today has announced the appointment of Darren C. Post to the newly created role of Chief Operating Officer effective immediately.
This new role is a promotion for Darren Post resulting from his exceptional performance in his initial role as Executive Vice President of Product Development at ALTe.
The role of Chief Operating Officer was created to position the company for the forthcoming rapid growth stage as ALTe is preparing for mass production of its plug in electric hybrid powertrain systems at factories located in China and the United States.
Darren Post was selected by ALTe’s CEO John Thomas based on a variety of demanding criteria. “Darren has a unique combination of manufacturing, operations and product development experience and achievements gained through his 32 years at General Motors. Equally important, he has the attitude, intellect, character and ethics that we seek in all our leaders at ALTe as we strive to become a model company in the Cleantech industry demonstrating that the combination of great people, best practices and innovative products will result in maximum shareholder value while benefitting the planet.”
Darren Post previously held a variety of manufacturing executive positions at GM with full responsibility for machining and assembly of high volume V8 internal combustion engines, transmissions and power steering systems requiring precision, quality, throughput and management of up to 960 employees. Subsequent to his factory experiences, Mr. Post was selected to lead product development efforts culminating in top vehicle leadership roles responsible for the launch of several successful complete vehicles while achieving challenging cost, budget and timing requirements. Among them were the Pontiac Solstice, Saturn Ion, Saturn Sky, Chevrolet Impala and the Opel Zafira. Darren’s product experience also reaches into alternative fuel usage as he managed the implementation of CNG versions of several vehicles where he learned firsthand the benefits and challenges of that fuel selection.
Darren Post holds degrees from the General Motors Institute as well as Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he completed a Master’s degree at the Sloan School of Management as a GM Fellow.
In China, ALTe is selecting and installing equipment with the capacity to produce 10,000 powertrain systems per year. In Michigan, the company is installing duplicate equipment to that of China; but at a lower first year capacity to match demand. As the JV already has purchase orders for 3000 units, the Company has contingency plans to add additional equipment and / or run the factory on multiple shifts if demand skyrockets in China.
