At Booth 25023 at NPE 2012, April 1-5 in Orlando, Fla., Milliken & Company will demonstrate important sustainability benefits provided by its advanced clarifier for polypropylene (PP), Millad® NX™ 8000. Millad NX 8000 enables PP to be processed at significantly lower temperatures versus standard clarified PP. These cooler temperatures allow a reduction in energy use and associated carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions while maintaining the brighter, cleaner appearance of clarified PP using Millad NX 8000.
At its exhibit, Milliken invites attendees to use the company’s special calculator that will enable them to gauge their anticipated energy savings.
The superior clarifying performance of Millad NX 8000 enables broader use of PP – a low-density, easily recycled plastic – to replace less-sustainable materials in packaging, household and food storage applications. In addition to these environmental advantages, PP clarified with Millad NX 8000 can help converters and molders cut costs and increase productivity through faster cycle times.
“Millad NX 8000 is a highlight of our corporate sustainability efforts,” said Jean Hall, business manager, Milliken & Company. “As one of our ‘Products that Do Good’, Millad NX 8000 enables polypropylene to approach the clarity of glass, making it an excellent choice to replace other clear resins that have a greater ecological impact. We invite NPE attendees to use our calculator and see for themselves how much energy they can potentially save. Polypropylene clarified with our technology is good for the environment and equally good for our customers’ bottom line.”
Milliken will also display other key technologies for advancing the performance of polyolefins, including Hyperform® nucleating agents, which allow for faster crystallization rates, improved processing and higher throughputs, and Hyperform reinforcing agents for applications that require high stiffness at lower weights. In particular, the company will showcase its new Hyperform HPN-20E nucleator for high-density polyethylene (HDPE) used in blown film, extrusion blow molding and injection molding, as well as in linear low density PE (LLDPE), especially C4 gas phase LLDPE. This advanced technology can cut cycle times and also improve barrier performance.
Milliken will present at the Latin America Seminar, held during NPE on Tuesday, April 3 at 8:15 am–12:30 pm. The theme of the seminar is “Rigid and Flexible: Applications for Innovative Packaging Solutions.”
