MontaVista Software LLC announced that the MontaVista Automotive Technology Platform (ATP) has successfully passed the GENIVI compliance process and is compliant with the GENIVI Compliance Specification Release 1.0. The MontaVista Automotive Technology Platform enables automotive manufacturers and tier-1 suppliers to build powerful in-vehicle-infotainment (IVI) systems while significantly accelerating time-to-market and lowering development costs of innovative new features.
Until recently, most automotive infotainment solutions have been proprietary in nature, typically built in-house or based on a proprietary RTOS. The result is expensive solutions with very little software reuse creating high platform costs and long development cycles. By leveraging MontaVista Automotive Technology Platform, companies can utilize an open platform, freeing themselves from the proprietary operating systems they currently use and allowing them to leverage the ecosystem evolving around GENIVI standards. This results in more software reuse and more choices for automotive OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers.
Leveraging MontaVista’s 10+ years of Embedded Linux experience, the MontaVista Automotive Technology Platform contains hardened frameworks for graphics, video, sound, USB, Bluetooth, Location Based Services, security, customizable UI and much more. The MontaVista ATP is highly tuned in the areas of performance, ultra fast boot and power management on select automotive-specific platforms based on ARM and Intel(R)Atom(TM) processors.
Some of the key components of MontaVista Automotive Technology Platform are:
— Linux-based, GENIVI Compliant platform with fast boot/start up, high
performance, power management and security options built in
— Comprehensive networking and internet support
— Multimedia capabilities for audio and video requirements
— Integration for consumer devices via Bluetooth or APIs
— Vendor specific UI customization
— Fully integrated tool set for application development
“MontaVista is committed to delivering industry compliant, hardened, high-performance Linux-based software solutions to the automotive industry along with world-class service and support,” said Dan Cauchy, VP Marketing for MontaVista Software and GENIVI Compliance Team Lead. “We are glad to be one of the first companies to announce a GENIVI compliant platform and to participate in the launch of the GENIVI Compliance Program. This is an important milestone for the rapidly growing GENIVI ecosystem.”
“As a primary contributor to the GENIVI Compliance Program, MontaVista has shown its strong commitment to the automotive marketplace and to the GENIVI ecosystem,” said Steve Crumb, Executive Director, GENIVI Alliance. “We are glad to announce that MontaVista Automotive Technology Platform has achieved GENIVI Compliance.”
