Martin Pischinger Named Vice President, Electronics/Controls at FEV, Inc.

FEV, Inc., (FEV) a leading developer of advanced powertrain and vehicle technologies, announced that Dr. Martin Pischinger has assumed the position of vice president of Electronics/Controls at its North American Technical Center in Auburn Hills, Mich. Pischinger, who held the same position at FEV’s parent company, FEV Motorentechnik GmbH, located in Aachen, Germany, is the son of FEV founder Prof. Franz Pischinger. Gary Rogers, FEV president and CEO, and FEV Motorentechnik executive vice president, made the announcement.

Dr. Pischinger will be responsible for the oversight of FEV’s U.S. electronics business currently related primarily to powertrain development. Dr. Pischinger envisions other applications for this FEV discipline, such as aerospace and wind power as great opportunities for growth.

“Electronics is the key to improving every technology,” said Pischinger. “It is the enabler that allows us to turn innovative ideas to reality. This applies to the entire product development process as well.”

Pischinger has outlined several major goals for the electronics business unit, including the creation of a software development team capable of developing series production embedded software and establishing the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) process improvement approach. Additionally, Pischinger hopes to establish increased integration for FEV globally.

“I believe that my experience in Europe and other global regions served by FEV will allow us to improve world-wide synergies,” said Pischinger. “It is a goal of the company to work seamlessly on an international basis, and I think that my experience can be a catalyst for that to continue.”

Pischinger indicated that he would be hands-on, with a drive to realize new ideas and applications, and to see a project through to its final product. That said, he is also a firm believer in empowering employees to pursue different approaches in solving complex problems.

Since 2005, Pischinger has overseen the significant growth of the electronics business at FEV Motorentechnik. He also spent five years at BMW AG in Munich. Prior to BMW, he worked in engine development for FEV. Pischinger earned his engineering degree and his Ph.D. in Engineering at the Aachen Technical University.
