Durr builds an additional paint shop for Chery in Wuhu

As general contractor, Dürr is building an additional paint shop for the Chinese automobile manufacturer, Chery Automobile Co. Ltd., at its facility in Wuhu. Upon completion of this project with a volume of nearly € 60 million, the equipment from Dürr will have given Chery the possibility to paint up to 1.1 million vehicles. Chery is a Chinese manufacturer whose vehicles serve both domestic and international markets.
Dürr is creating the entire paint shop for Chery, including the application technology.

The interior painting is performed manually while the exterior painting takes place automatically. Type EcoRP 6 robots with EcoBell2 atomizers are used in this process. Both Chery and Dürr benefited in the construction of this facility from their experiences with a previous project that is almost identical to the new paint shop. A new element is the use of water-based paints in the primer and top coat areas, which make the painting process much more environmentally friendly.

The plant will begin operations in December 2012, and will serve to expand capacity at the Wuhu location. It is designed for a three-shift operation with an annual capacity of 335,000 vehicles.
