Li-ion Motors, Is It Really Electric?

Li-ion Motors Inizio Supercar Defies Consumer Perception of Zero Exhaust Emission Cars

It was the question most asked by consumers, media and auto industry veterans during the recent Detroit and Washington, DC auto shows. Is that car really electric?

They were referring to the sleek, racing-red Inizio on display from Li-ion Motors (OTCBB: LMCO) (FRANKFURT: LL9L), the North Carolina based manufacturer who had recently won the Progressive Insurance Automotive X Prize for its 100% electric WAVE II, which achieved an incredible 202.5 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent) on the dynamometer at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Argonne National Laboratory and averaged 187 MPGe in on-track testing in competition.

While the Inizio shares the battery technology of the very practical Wave II, its bloodlines are more close in driver’s eyes to the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and other high performance vehicles. While the Inizio looked fast just standing there, video of the car in action had jaws dropping and asking the electric question time and again.

Through the Detroit and Washington shows, more than a million consumers, thousands of media and many government officials had the chance to see what the future of electric vehicle transportation will be.

“That future is everything that people want and get from their cars now, just with far less damage to our environment and extremely lower operating costs,” says Li-ion Motors CEO Stacey Fling. “Driving an alternative fuel vehicle does not mean sacrificing everything they’ve come to know and love about their automobiles.”

The future is now in that the company announced earlier this year that both the WAVE II and Inizio vehicles are moving into production for consumer sales in 2011 and has opened up reservation procedures for both cars that can be accessed at www.li-ionmotors.com.

Fling follows that, “Li-ion Motors proves the viability of electric cars on both ends of the spectrum from practical to performance.”

President Barack Obama declared in his State of the Union address the objective of putting a million electric cars on American roads by 2015. The Inizio will help realize that faster, in every sense of the word.

About Li-ion Motors Corp, headquartered in Mooresville, NC with corporate offices in Las Vegas, NV, is a leading developer and manufacturer of electric powered automobiles including the WAVE II and the Inizio.

Previously known as Hybrid Technologies, the company has more than ten years’ experience and expertise in the conversion of internal combustion cars to all electric for both individual and corporate customers as well as government agencies such as NASA.

The company won the Progressive Automotive X Prize in 2010 for its WAVE II, which came with a $2.5 million (USD) award. During the X Prize competition, the WAVE II whose electric motor is powered by lithium-ion batteries governed by a proprietary battery management system (BMS) was certified by the Argonne National Laboratory at 202.5 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent).

The Inizio is the world’s first 100% electric supercar, capable of 170 mph and acceleration from 0-60 mph in up to 3.4 seconds. Both vehicles are moving into production for consumer sales in 2011.

Along with the production of original vehicles, the company licenses its proprietary BMS and technology to automobile manufacturers seeking to advance their electric vehicle offerings.
