ActionEco.org Feature: Tektronix Energy Audit Identifies $510,000 in Annual Savings

This week on ActionEco.org: Tektronix, a $1.1 billion global leader in test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, has identified $510,000 in estimated annual energy savings as the result of a comprehensive three-day energy audit.

The annual Tektronix savings will require a one-time investment of about $233,000, said facilities and general services manager Joe Ohama. As much as $378,000 of the annual savings is possible in 2009, according to the audit.

Major savings were identified throughout the company’s Beaverton, Ore., complex, but it was the combination of large and small changes that contributed to the considerable bottom-line savings.

“One of the biggest audit findings was the benefit of pulling in people from our different user groups,” Ohama said. “Manufacturing, engineering — getting everyone in the room at the same time.”

“Joe and the team took the time to set themselves up for success, brought the right people together and asked the tough questions,” said Tektronix chief financial officer Chuck McLaughlin. “Their results will serve as a great stretch goal for other companies that perform energy audits.”
