Magna Powertrain, New Process Gear, has selected Altair HyperWorks technology suite to further reduce product development cycle time and associated costs.
Initial deployments include Altair HyperMesh and Altair OptiStruct/Analysis to support New Process Gear’s structural analysis requirements. Following, Altair’s optimization technologies will be integrated as part of Magna’s continuing strategy to bring added value to its global OEM customers by developing advanced drivetrain solutions.
“Our main objective in using HyperWorks for predictive analysis is to speed up the time it takes to develop robust, new products. The Altair solutions meet that need very well,” said Sankar Mohan, Ph.D., director of Advanced Engineering for Magna Powertrain, New Process Gear. “Our immediate goal is to eliminate one prototype development cycle from each new product. However, as we expand our use of predictive engineering and optimization technology, we expect to exceed that goal.”
Altair OptiStruct/Analysis is a fast, accurate and robust finite element solver for linear solution sequences and contact problems. Up to four times faster than conventional solver technologies, OptiStruct/Analysis delivers flexibility and advanced functionality, with no restriction in model size. HyperMesh, another of the advanced CAE solutions in Altair’s HyperWorks product suite, is a high-performance finite element pre- and post-processor that allows engineers to analyze product design performance in a highly interactive and visual environment.
“We are very pleased with the outcome of New Process Gear’s benchmark evaluation, and consider the HyperWorks suite the right fit for their needs,” said Dhiren Marjadi, Altair regional managing director. “We look forward to supporting their organizational objectives through both our advanced technology deployment and customer-focused consulting services activities.”
